On January 2010, “Mr. Caper’s Outlet” was released into the underground hip-hop world. The quiet and subtle mixtape release might have not turned many heads, but once this mixtape receives more exposure, I guarantee that heads will be doing complete 360’s.
The mixtape was produced by Mr. Capers himself. Capers, a fellow member of the group called “Black Ice Entertainment” has created a simple but yet well weaved together mixtape.
“Mr. Caper’s Outlet” is truly an enjoyable and fun listen, and with such colorful bouncy beats, Caper’s finds a way to add meaning to his rhymes; therefore, revealing a quaint statement in each track. The mixtape’s title alone signifies a meaning of cope and escape.
To describe Caper’s style is one in which caution should be used. As a matter of fact, Caper’s said it best himself in a line from a track titled Never Seen Before (Not on the mixtape), in which he says, “I’m like the Barry White of rap.” With beats combining West Coast, East Coast, and even down South sounds- Caper’s has found a way to mesh multiple genres, leaving the audience with a mainstream feel mixed with underground lyrics.
Mr. Caper’s has shown his versatility over and over through previous mixtapes (Major Glory, The Flowchart, etc…), and in “Mr. Caper’s Outlet,” he does not disappoint. His versatility in flow keeps the tape from dragging along and becoming repetitive. He also has skits which provide a sense of creative modern humor.
Thus, Caper’s new mixtape provides a new style in the so called dying genre of hip-hop. The mixtape is a smooth and well put together blend of tracks with enough balance in meaning and humor to attract all fans. With hits such as Leave it at that, Ain’t That Serious, Winter Break, and the Hyyerr Fyyerr (Remix), fans will definitely be keeping it on repeat. Hopefully the mixtape will gain the attention it deserves. Currently it is available for free download on Megaupload (There will be a link below this article). Hope you all enjoy, I know I did.
